Juxtapparition

Eralp
Eralp thumbnail
Eralp Hazy landscapes for your introspection needs. Alien, yet somewhat calming. Favorite track: Look Right Through You.

FLESH MECHANIC Juxtapparition celebrates the beauty of desolate landscapes in the best way possible. 10 hypnotic pieces that slowly build up the sense of calm and isolation that makes you want to leave the city and become one with the nature. Songs like Apparition, Mirrors and the smokey-bluesy See The Sun Within are truly breathtaking. Favorite track: Apparition.

MII breathtaking in every respect, whether from some deep, beatific spell or the grip of something completely unexpected (which is quite commonplace in this world); a rare album that rewards further listening at each repeated listen... Favorite track: Apparition.

about

Understated Theory are Colin Crighton (nil.co) and Tom Moore (Indigolab and Dead Melodies). Sharing musical and production duties, their sound is a sprawling fuse of manipulated guitars, keys and synths, with otherworldly fx and programmed field recordings adding the finishing layers to create their own brand of textured sound.

Following on from the mid 2015 ‘Critical Drift’ EP released through Sparkwood Records comes ‘Juxtapparition’. A full length release which explores much darker territories; mixing ambient post-rock with deep droning atmospherics and downtempo electronica. Weaving amid waves of fuzz tinged drones, fractured beats and hints of twisted melodies, the sound envisages a dark panorama in which the listener is left to bring their own interpretation.

"Understated Theory's music exhales like some sleepy colossus as it threads a path through dense, drifting fields of phase-treated guitars and sweeping sheets of glassy, metallic textures"
- Textura.org

"Juxtapparition is a masterpiece in alien music. The tight instrumentation is minimal, providing exactly what it needs. It’s smart, introspective music, and it screams atmosphere."
- Alex Crellin, Echoes and Dust

"The places we are shown are strange, glimpsed through a constant roll of smoke, indistinct in form but distinct in feeling."
-Hypnagogue Reviews
